Dr. Om Juneja, The President Elect of the International Council for Canadian Studies

It is a matter of great proud that¬† Dr. Om Juneja, The President of NRI Parents’ Association, Vadodara, was elected the President Elect of the International Council for Canadian Studies at the Annual General Body Meeting of the Board of Directors held in the Government of Canada offices of External Affairs Department in Ottawa on 26 May 2012. After serving as President Elect for one year, he will work as its President for two years and then as Past President for one more year. With an annual budget of over five millions, it is a heavy responsibility on him of promoting Canadian Studies in 39 countries.

The other two candidates were from Argentina and Ireland. He is its 17th President, the first from Asia as all the other presidents are from Europe and the Americas. Earlier he was elected its Secretary in 1991-93 and was awarded “Certificate of Merit” along with the Canadian High Commissioner in India. He is currently the President of Indian Association for Canadian Studies which has more than one thousand members.

The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS), founded in 1981, is a not-for-profit organization composed of twenty-two member associations and six associate members in thirty-nine countries, dedicated to the promotion and support of research, education and publication in all fields of Canadian Studies with a membership base of over 7000 Canadianists around the world.
